1988 BMW 325i M Technic

80s tech n car advertising aesthetics are interesting bc they could totally be perceived as neo-monumental in the way that they create a easily consumed fetish object for a capital market.

Also the association of Kanji (?) and the 80s economic boom is interesting and has carried out a fetishisation of text without understanding, maybe owing to it’s slightly more pictorial set and the reliance of the west on Japanese manufactured tech.

Forces for Architecture by Jolan van der Wiel’s studio.

I love the visualisation of nature/manmade process ad networks, the crackle of electricity amongst fluid visuals and the colours of gentility contrasting with severe and based forms…

This video reminds me of a neo-biophiliac enquirey into how structure can shape our understanding and mediating of realities.

NB// I found out about this studio through some shoe designs for Iris van Herpen which used a magnetised paint substrate to create fluid, interesting and ultimately beautiful forms.

(ya that was a Björk reference, lol)
